CPM

1. CPM (Critical Path Method) was developed by Mauchly Associates in the 1960's and consists of work activities connected by dummy restraints. It is Activity Oriented to communicating with the Supervisors & workers who are performing the task and makes it easier for them to relate to where they are in the planning and provide feed back to the computer simulation program.

2. CPM is Activity Oriented, not Milestone Event Oriented.

3. Management does not want a report with the detail of CPM. They want Milestone Event reporting without the detail

4. As a result it did not meet the requirements of top level management and required time to prepare a Top Level Management report.

5. So PERT was developed. Please see PERT next.
