About ATAD Corporation CEO
Education & Experience previous to Engineering Education included Hotel & Restaurant Management, American Institute of Banking, Business Management with two years of Accounting, Cost Accounting, Production Management & Control. Supervision of Accounts Payable, Sales Office Mgr., Salesman and Division Sales Manager.
Industrial Engineer for General Electric, GE Management Training Program and IBM training.
Later, As an Industrial Engineer for a consulting firm, responsible for planning production of the first video camera and tape record by Ampex Corporation.
Later, As an Industrial Engineer responsible for production problems for the Samos Computer Satellite Tracking & Data Acquisition System for Philco-Ford Western Development Lab. When they were unable to find someone with Computer, Production, Engineering and Project Management using PERT (Program Evaluation & Review Technique) knowledge I was moved to Master Scheduling as Engineering Administrator; a person selected General Management & I were sent to the Air Force Management of Space, Aerospace Corporation, before it became NASA, for training. I was appointed at the request of Aerospace Corporation as the representative for Philco-Ford. I also began to program the Philco S200 Computer in Assembler Language, then converted to Octal (Base 8), then to binay (Base 2), so I could patch into the existing program because computer programmers were not available and compiling time was very expensive. I advanced quite rapidly in a combination of Engineering and Computer Science, computer simulation of Project Management, Planning & Scheduling production satellite computers and construction of tracking & data acquisition site.
When the contract was completed, I took a position with Day & Zimmerman as Methods and Planning Engineer, Asst. Field & Mechanical Superintendent, for the construction of the Hershey Chocolate plant in Oakdale, CA. I was also responsible for co-ordination of sub contractor operations and performance inspection of contract. I was asked by a group of millwrights I supervised to run for Business Agent. I join the Millwrights Union but I decided I did not want to become Business Agent. I was asked by the sub contractors to represent them & present a gift from them to the Construction Manager who was leaving to start another project.
When that project ended, I took a position as Manager of Planning and Scheduling with Catalytic Construction at Jackass Flats Nevada, 135 mile North of Las Vegas, who had a contract with the SNPO (Space Nuclear Propulsion Office) for the construction of test stands and testing of Nuclear Engines operation using Cryogenic Hydrogen stored in Dewars, which did not required oxygen or burnable fuel for deep space travel.
When that contract lost funding, I took a position of Cost Control, Planning & Scheduling Engineer for United Engineers and Constructors of Philadelphia in their new Chicago office. That office had only one contract for the conversion of the Magnesium plant in Henderson, Nevada to Titanium. I flew from Chicago to Las Vegas for one week of each month, collected data about the project and then flew back to Chicago and then to Minneapolis to rent time on Control Data Corp's big computer. Before the plant conversion was complete, Japanese Titanium sponge was available in the USA at a price lower than that plant could deliver. The contract was completed, the Chicago office closed. I did not want to move to Philadelphia.
I took a position as Operations Analyst for the Chicago & North Western Railroad in the Advanced Systems Development Group of Corporate System Development with required experience in Operation Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Accounting, CPM & PERT. Corporate Staff personal came to me for assistance about how long it would take to collect data, do the Planning & Scheduling using CPM/PERT for the merger of the Chicago & North Western & the Milwaukee Road Railroads. I told them it would take a minimum of 6 weeks. They said we can do it in much less time and left. In a few minutes I got a call from my manager to come to his office. He said how long did you tell them it would take. I told him 6 week minimum. My Manager told them, George says it will take 6 weeks as a minimum so that is our answer. They did not like the answer and left. About 6 weeks later they came to my office again saying they had collected a lot of data but they did not know how to put it together and wanted to know how long it would take me to put it together. I told them six weeks because if they could not put it together a lot of information would be missing and I would end up going through the entire process again. They left in a huff and went to my managers office again, He called me to come to his office and I told him the same thing I had told them. As a result they said they did not want me involved in the planning but they wanted me to train 600 executives, managers and supervisor in both railroads how to plan, which I did. Corporate Staff made such a mess out of the entire project, the President fired all of them, moved the entire Advanced System Development to replace the Corporate Staff and renamed it Staff Services. A case where arrogance destroyed an entire department. Public Relations Speaker representing the Chicago & Northwestern & Other Railroads combining their passenger equipment and rails as an integral part of the Chicago Metropolitan Area Transit System After a successful career in Engineering and Computer Science, I was offered an opportunity to become an Independent Study Student to obtain a degree in Computer Science, if I maintained a 4.0 Straight A's in all subjects. As an Independent Study Student; I did not have to attend classes, I had to pass a verbal midterm exam and a written or verbal final exam. My electives were Commercial Law & Economics. I joined the PI SIGMA EPSILON Sales & Marketing Fraternity because of my previous Sales Experience. Since I was the only Engineer, Computer Science, Accountant in Staff Services, I was sent to trouble areas, including railroad derailment. I was having dinner with the Road Master when he received a call of a derailment. We both went and discovered a Fairbanks Morse Streamliner Engine and 3600 Horsepower Freight engine had pushed empty cars onto a stretch of no rock, mud, bad ties & track. The FBM Engine weight spread the rails apart and it dropped into the mud. The Engineers had moved the Freight engine to an area but had not left enough room for the FBM Engine. A man from the Engine Service Round House arrived but left immediately because the Engineers had shut down the Freight Engine and he did not know how to start it. It took me 45 minutes to determine how to start the Diesel Engine energize the generator windings and move the engine. When the FBM Engine was raised out of the mud and back on the rails, I moved it behind the Freight Engine. I was on a plane Sunday night to a trouble spot and on a plane to home on Friday night. I could study on the plane and nights in my Hotel room. So this worked out very well for me. I graduated as an honor student and passed the MBA program entrance exam.
Dichotomy, Inc was incorporated in Illinois to allow me to engage in Engineering & Computer Consulting in addition to employment. Later the name was changed to Atad Corporation.
Systems Analyst for System Development, Loyola University Medical Center, Maywood, IL. Development of Patient Financial & Medical Records Systems. Move from the current position to another Project Manager and then selected as Project Manager by the Board of Directors for the University Fund Raising System. Developed Request for Proposal for computer hardware and software that included a rating value for each function in the software. The rating system I developed was not part of the RFP (Request For Proposal) information. Between myself, the Director of Fund Raising, the Father responsible to the President, we agree on a value for each function; 1 if a program function was not needed. 4 if a function had possible merit later. 8 if a function we required now. The value data for each responding RFP, their program function and value assigned was entered into a computer program and evaluation mathematically. The RFP with the most 1 values was filled with time wasting unneeded functionality. The RFP's with the highest 8 values were the most efficient in including the most usable functionality and if it also had a high quantity of 4 values, it became one of three selected to travel to view a demonstration. When the demonstrations were complete, each of us evaluated the demonstration. As soon as the three of us were in agreement on the selection, I began writing the Hardware and Software contract and when it was completed I sent it to the Legal Department for final check out. The Director of System Development listened the President of the Hardware Software Company and agreed to waive the contract requirement that the DEC PDP 11 and the rewrite to DEC VAX 11-70 software source code had to be placed in escrow, to make it possible for us to complete the conversion if they went out of business or the software did not function properly. As a result, I had all kinds of problems with the software and lack of cooperation from the vendor. I had to write BATCH control programs that DEC (Digital Equipment Corporation) said would not work, but I made them work, to overcome the bad user interface and creation of duplicate records because each entry was added as the last record in the file and those records could not be accessed therefore the personnel were adding the same record multiple times until the entire file was sorted to place them in the proper position in the file so they could be accessed.
I retired from Loyola University. My wife and I wanted to get back to a warmer climate in Las Vegas area. In August 1995, I retired Atad Corporation as an Illinois Corporation and Atad Corporation became a Nevada Corporation.
I have additional experience in Software System Concept, Systems Analysis, System Design, Flow Charting, Test Data Design and Preparation, Programming, Program Testing, System Testing, System Management, and System Security.
